ContractsHomebuying Glossary
Addendum
A written amendment adding to or changing the terms of an existing contract.
In plain English
An addendum modifies or adds to the original purchase agreement — commonly used for repair agreements, financing changes, or closing date extensions — and must be signed by both parties to take effect.
Why it matters
Any change to your original agreement should go through a proper addendum, not just a verbal or informal understanding.
