Mortgage Servicer

Also known as Loan Servicer

The company you actually send payments to and deal with — which may not be who you got your loan from.

In plain English

Your loan servicer handles day-to-day account management: collecting payments, managing your escrow account, and handling customer service. Loans are often sold to a different servicer after closing, which is normal and doesn't change your loan's terms.

Why it matters

If your servicer changes, your loan terms stay the same — but make sure you update autopay and contact info promptly to avoid a missed payment.
