Single-Family Home

A standalone residential property built for one household, on its own lot.

In plain English

A single-family home is a detached house on its own parcel of land, not sharing walls or common ownership structures with neighboring units — as opposed to a condo, townhome, or multi-family property.

Why it matters

Single-family homes typically give you full control over the property and land but also full responsibility for all maintenance, without an HOA sharing the load (unless one applies to the neighborhood).
