VOE

Also known as Verification of Employment

A lender's confirmation, directly with your employer, that you're actually employed as stated on your application.

In plain English

A VOE is a check — often conducted right before closing — where your lender contacts your employer directly to confirm your job, income, and employment status haven't changed since you applied.

Why it matters

Avoid changing jobs or taking unpaid leave between pre-approval and closing — a failed VOE close to your closing date can seriously delay or derail your loan.
